Pet Portraits – Dogs, Chinchillas and other Furbabies
We love doing pet portraits! Seriously, rarely do we have such enthusiastic models, although most of our clients don’t lick us to show their happiness which we generally agree is a good thing! Much like photographing small children, creating pet portraits is a session of pure play. Of crawling around on the ground with a treat, a squeaky toy, a mobile phone playing a favourite song or sometimes, just clucking like a chicken. Yes, our chicken impressions are legendary among our four legged clients!
We’ve had the pleasure of photographing many families with their little furbabies, and sometimes just the little darlings themselves. As proud owner of two Cavelier King Charles spaniels – Charley and Chloe – Denise is more than used to how adorably melodramatic dogs of all kinds can be. From getting excited over blowing bubbles or the near hysteria at seeing a lead being produced, it’s amazing how seeing them so happy can make us smile.
We photograph big dogs, small dogs, sleepy dogs and yappy dogs. We’ve even had the pleasure of creating portraits of heartbreakingly timid rescue dogs, who began the shoot too afraid to come near us – a stranger with a big camera – and ended up curled up on our knee by the end of the shoot.
While the pets that we photograph most in our Skerries studio would definitely be dogs, we sometimes get pets that are a little out of the ordinary, such as the family chinchilla! This little one was the softest creature we have ever petted!
